Faculty position in History of Architecture

The EPFL School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) invites applications for a faculty position in History of Architecture. The position is expected to be filled at the level of Associate or Full Professor.

The Institute of Architecture and the City is looking for a professor who has an excellent track record in terms of teaching and research and whose body of work is an original contribution to architectural history. Facing unprecedented cultural and political challenges that originate from the crises that affect our environment, architectural history is called to study the past in order to find critical continuities with the present. For this reason, the Institute is looking for a professor who can combine rigorous scholarship and a sense of urgency in making historical knowledge relevant to current concerns.

Candidates are expected to have a clear and strategic vision of what could be architectural history today and have already produced a substantial body of publications and research.
We especially look for a candidate with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching both introductory courses to bachelor students and advanced courses for master students. Moreover, the successful candidate is expected to supervise doctoral theses and lead a research laboratory. Preference will be given to an historian who can participate in teaching and research activities in collaboration with the diverse ENAC disciplines.
