20x20x20 presents a format engaging the guest professors at the EPFL School of Architecture — two 20 minute presentations by two guest professors followed by a 20 minute moderated discussions.

Biographies 

Karsten Födinger was born in 1978 in Mönchengladbach, Germany. He studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe. Födinger’s works have been presented in numerous solo exhibitions, including at Antenna Space in Shanghai, and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. In 2012, he was awarded the Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel Statements. Realized through the engineering or construction techniques, the oeuvre of Födinger brings forth the role of the mechanics as a constitutional element of sculpture­. He is a visiting professor in the art&architecture orientation at the EPFL in Lausanne and he conceive and teach the new art cours ART FUNDAMENTS for 1st year students of architecture.

Christian Gilot is architect in Brussels and professor at UCLouvain. He has been invited professor at EPFL for numerous years. Among his recent publications : La construction du sol, in Trans Vol.29 (Zurich), Histoires d’eau, in San Rocco Vol.14 (Milan), La passerelle de la Joux Verte (Brauen Wälchli Architectes), ed.Espazium, Combien de villes s’appelèrent Venise ?, in Matières Vol.16 (Lausanne) – lauréat du concours d’écriture organisé par la Fondation Le Corbusier, 2017.

Marie-Luce Jaquier is a Swiss architect based in Lausanne. She studied architecture at the Karlsruher Institute of Technology and EPF Lausanne, where she graduated in 2014.  After working a few years in Zürich, she started in 2017 her own practice. In parallel she is a research and teaching assistant at the Manslab.
