NINA RAPPAPORT is an architectural critic, curator, and educator. She is publications director at Yale School of Architecture and editor of the biannual publication Constructs (numbering 24), the exhibition catalogs (numbering 36), as well as the school’s book series (13 to date).

She the director of the project, the Vertical Urban Factory, which includes an exhibition with graphic design by Sarah Gephart of MGMT Design and the exhibit design by Studio Tractor, which opened in New York at the Skyscraper Museum in January 2011 and traveled to Detroit’s MOCAD and Toronto’s Design Exchange and Urban Space in 2012 and spring 2013. She received a research grant from New York State Council on the Arts for the project. VUF is also a project of the New York Foundation for the Arts.

Her book, Support and Resist: Structural Engineers and Design Innovation, for which she received New York State Council on the Arts and Graham Foundation in the Fine Arts grants, was published by the Monacelli Press in 2007. Her essay from that research, “Deep Decoration” appeared in 30/60/90, Fall 2006. She has contributed essays to Architecture, Architectural Record, Praxis, Perspecta, Scapes, Metropolis, Future Anterior, and Tec21 among other architectural publications.

She has taught seminars on the post-industrial factory and on innovative engineers at Barnard College, City College, and Yale School of Architecture, Parsons School of Design, and is currently an adjunct professor teaching a seminar on urban theory in the Syracuse in NYC program each semester.

She was a Design Trust for Public Space Fellow and co-author of Long Island City: Connecting the Arts (Episode Books, 2006).

She is Chair of Docomomo-New York/Tri-State.
