The MOBOTS group from the EPFL Laboratory of robotic systems will transform the Rolex Learning Center Forum into a ballroom with multiple rainbow colored robots. The cheerful THYMIO robots are great friends of kids and school children.

ETERNAL YOU – Artistic performance from Alina Mnatsakanian
Rolex Learning Center – Outdoors under the arches – from 2 p.m until midnight
To draw with one’s body and to see the drawing simultaneously appear on a screen, such synchronization between time and image is at the heart of Alina Mnatsakanian interactive setup. The artist invites members of the public, who will be given luminous accessories, to move in front of the camera. Their bodies’ movements will appear as traces on the screen.

SOL.ID – Exposition and Illustration of CAUSTIC IMAGING
Rolex Learning Center – Outdoors under the arches – from 2 p.m until midnight
Caustics are luminous patterns created through the reflection and refraction of light on rounded objects (such as the reflection of rays of light from the bottom of a swimming pool). In cooperation with the architect workshop ALICE, Professor Mark Pauly’s LGG laboratory will demonstrate that the caustic effect can be controlled and predictably drawn thanks to the power of computing. A light show will take place at dusk.

CH-JP BUILDING IN CONTEXT – architecture Exposition
Japanese contemporary architecture in Switzerland
SG building – Espace Archizoom – from 2 p.m. until midnight (through October 1st)
Switzerland and Japan are two countries that are renowned for their exquisite architecture which is exported with success. In recent years, our little country has been particularly open to Japanese architects who’s work project innovation and are emblematic on the Swiss territory. This is an opportunity for Archizoom to debate the different causes and effects of these exchanges, as well as allowing to understand how these creative affinities interlock. In addition to a presentation about the buildings, the exhibit talks about architecture as a cultural phenomenon feeding exchanges and contexts.

SHAPING THE SPACE – Guided tour of the Japanese Architecture Exhibitions
SG building – Espace Archizoom – At 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. (duration 45 mn)
Japanese architects come up with very creative and specific solutions related to the spaces in which they build. The two exhibitions presented at Archizoom allow us to understand how the Japanese make use of the spaces in which we live, whether it is for an individual house in an urban environment, or for emblematic constructions completed in Switzerland. Such a project is the Under one Roof building currently under construction at EPFL which will be dedicated to arts, science and technology.

Four guest speakers from various backgrounds will comment on the astonishing light installation SOL.ID. Four different senses and subjectivities meet at Archizoom and can be heard on the NDM radio waves (90.4 FM).

BOLO MUSEUM – Exhibition-Presentation of old computers

The Bolo Museum opens its doors and turns on its computers and its game consols. The program includes:
EXHIBITION AND PRESENTATION : Non-stop from 2 p.m.
- Programmed Disappearance: An original, thought-provoking and fun exhibit.
- Apple One project: Operational and functional reproduction of the 1976 Apple I.
- Alohanet: Discover how radio waves have allowed the transfer of computer data well before Ethernet, Wifi, 3G or the packet radio
- Game Lounge: Space dedicated for video games from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
- Demonstrations: Sprites, beats and pixels, The Commodore 64 and the Amiga 500 still going strong!
