Soon 80 years old yet still 20 in his heart, Daniel Humair is one of the major drummers on the
world stage of the last 60 years. After some drum lessons in Geneva, he is in Paris at 19 as
drummer of Bud Powell and Martial Solal. Bedecked with all possible distinctions, he played with the greatest jazzmen since the 50s to this day. Pillar of modern jazz in Europe, Daniel Humair is one of these artists always on the lookout, leading a career siding with the giants of jazz music as well as young musicians whom he mentors. He shows us how jazz music, a music to share, a music that is intergenerational, keeps going forward.
Saxophonist Vincent Lê Quang’s style is identifiable already with the first note. Composer,
conductor and pre-eminent improviser, he possesses the profile of the complete musician yet
keeps a curiosity turned towards all arts.
Bassist Stéphane Kérécki has set himself as a genuine sound architect. The musician
accumulates prizes yet continues to renew his art. His very melodious expression is no less solid and structured.
Pianist and composer Hervé Sellin, bright student of Aldo Ciccolini, is known as being the fetiche accompanist of Johnny Griffin, but also for his collaborations with Dizzie Gillespie, Chet Baker, Richard Galliano or Dee Dee Bridgewater.
The concert at the Rolex Learning Center Forum is reserved for the EPFL, UNIL, EJMA and HEMU communities.
