From November 14, 2014 to February 1, 2015
Rolex Learning Center (outdoors)
The 12th edition of the Bex & Arts triennial sculpture exhibition is being held from June 1 to October 5 2014 in the Szilassy Park near Bex. Over 50 artists representing Switzerland’s contemporary artistic scene were invited to present exceptional works produced in situ on the topic of “Emergence.” Since it was first founded, the triennial exhibit has become a key event for open-air contemporary art.
For some time now, EPFL’s Cultural and Artistic Affairs have been looking for the right way to display showcase visual art on the campus. Thanks to a precious partnership with the Bex-based expo, a small collection of works presented there will be given a second chance to shine, this time around the Rolex Learning Center.
The works:
- Beat Lippert – Ma première et dernière pièce, 2014
fibre de verre, peinture au silicate, résine acrylique, 250 x 80 x 80 (x2) - Michael Meier et Christoph Franz – Joyfull Newes out of the New-Found World, 2014
bac acier, bois, feuilles de tabac, tubes métalliques, voliges, 506 x 480 x 1100 cm
- Yves Netzhammer – Klangskulptur, 2014
acier, câble, peinture blanche, tissu, tondeuse, 263 x 1000 x 715
Courtesy : Christinger de Mayo, Zurich - Pascal Häusermann – Correspondances/Connections, 2014
acier, peinture, 700 x 500 x 1000cm - Kerim Seiler – Birdhouse II, 2014
aluminium, bois, fer, peinture acrylique, 720 x 170 x 130 cm.
The exhibition will also be an opportunity for the EPFL community to get a glimpse into the thoughts of the Bex & Arts curators, Noémie Enz and Jessica Schupbach on the relationship between humans and the contemporary world, on the utopia of a global understanding of the universe and the ties between works of art and everything that precedes them. Every work of art, they say, gives rise to the emergence of a poetic and artistic island.
