Improving waste management in Foumban, Cameroun

Description of the partner:

Experts-Solidaires is an association based in Montpellier. The organization’s mission is to support development aid projects for the most vulnerable communities in the areas of access to water and sanitation, agricultural development and the fight against malnutrition, access to energy, and environmental protection.
Since 2016, Experts-Solidaires has been supporting water and sanitation projects in Cameroon, in the municipalities of Lobo, Mbankomo, Ngoulemakong, and Foumban.

Description of the internship:

The mission will be to work, in collaboration with the local consultant and the Foumban municipal team, on:

  • Identifying and designing transfer site

  • Rehabilitating access roads to the landfill

  • Supporting the local manager in waste pre-collection

  • Preparing pre-collection routes in the seven new neighborhoods

  • Training new associations

  • Participating in the identification of equipment (tricycles, compacting bins)

  • Any other activities related to the municipal team

The intern will be supported by the project director, Jean-Pierre Mahé, and a waste management expert. 

Qualities and skills needed:

  • Environmental / Sanitation engineer (master level)
  • Knowledge in waste management and public services 
  • Knowledge of civil engineering is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills
  • Experience or knowledge of Africa is an asset
