Courses for PhD students by the EPFL library
FROM RESEARCH TO PUBLICATION
The Library offers training to young researchers in order to help them master advanced searching in specialised resources, understand the process of scientific publishing and reuse articles in their thesis without the risk of plagiarism.
Any PhD student can also contact us in order to organise individual training or in a small group according to his specific needs.
Module 1: Stay tuned! Being up-to-date with your research topic
Description: Various questions relating to the search for scientific information are addressed: define a question and translate it into machine language, identify relevant sources, set up a watch in his field of study, use a bibliographic management tool. Practical exercises punctuate the session and allow the PhD students to practice the acquired skills on their thesis topic.
Objectives: At the end of training, the PhD student knows the specialised resources, has a good command of advanced searching and is able to set up a watch in his field. He knows the tools that allow him to collect references, and cite his sources easily when writing a scientific article or his thesis.
