On February 6, Turkey and Syria experienced one of its worst natural disasters in their history. Two consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.6 struck causing the collapse of over 6,000 buildings in 10 cities in an area twice as big as Switzerland, affecting more than 13 million people living in the region. Unfortunately, the death toll has reached 19,388 and the number of injuries is 77,711. These numbers are increasing daily.
As Turcopoly, we took action in response to the earthquake in Turkey. We set up an informational booth to spread awareness and offer ways for people to help.
What We Did:
For a week, we were present at EPFL and UNIL campuses, engaging with students and faculty. We shared information about the earthquake and suggested ways to provide assistance.
Crowdfunding Campaign:
We launched a crowdfunding campaign in partnership with the Red Cross. It’s a collective effort where people can donate to support those affected by the earthquake.
Our Thanks:
We’d like to express our gratitude to EPFL and UNIL for allowing us to be a part of their communities during this time. A big thank you to everyone who listened and contributed to help those impacted by the earthquake.
Every little bit helps when we come together to make a positive impact.
Thank you for your support!
