Radiation Protection Referents (RPR) serve as the point of contact between the unit and the School Radiation Protection Officer (SRPO) and/or the Faculty Radiation Protection Officer (FRPO), and the research group, for all matters related to radiation protection. Their tasks are as follows:
- They keep the list of radioactive materials or installations that generate ionizing radiation within their units up to date;
- They are responsible for the conditioning of radioactive waste from the research group for transfer to the FRPO;
- If they are also Radiation Protection Experts (RPE), they oversee the leakage control of sealed sources;
- They ensure the maintenance of measurement instruments;
- In the case of an X-ray installation or particle accelerator, they ensure compliance with periodic inspections as specified by the manufacturer;
- They provide specific safety training related to research activities involving ionizing radiation sources;
- They report any radiation protection irregularities observed within the research group to the SRPO;
- They respond to periodic inspections carried out by the SRPO.
