Poseidon does not handle the installation of professional software. For EPFL students only, you now have access to Distrilog (https://distrilog-etudiants.epfl.ch) and the following services:
Software available with VDI
We can assist you in installing the VMware Horizon client to access the EPFL’s desktop virtualization service. More information on how to get started with VDI can be found here.

Mathematica

Matlab
Matlab is available on this page: https://distrilog-etudiants.epfl.ch (Access limited to the EPFL network or via VPN | about 6 GB).
This MATLAB & Simulink Standard Version is available for Linux (64-bit), Mac OS X (64-bit), and Windows (32 and 64-bit) operating systems and includes more than 50 toolboxes.
EPFL users can receive technical support from MathWorks. Information on how to contact the support team and submit a request can be found on the MathWorks website:

But before contacting MathWorks support, please retrieve your MATLAB version and license number by typing the following command in MATLAB: “ver”.
Be sure to check the knowledge articles (log in and then type “matlab” in the search field) if you encounter issues.
You can also learn about the latest version features by reading the Release Notes page from MathWorks.
At the beginning of each year, during January, you will need to renew your MATLAB license by following the instructions in this knowledge article.

Are you a PhD student?
In this case, the licenses listed above do not apply to you. However, you have access to the full versions on Distrilog.
For EPFL students only, if the laptop is no longer under warranty, our service offers, on a best-effort basis, the following services after acceptance of the terms and conditions:
- Replacement of individual components, such as battery, SSD, fan, RAM.
- Dust cleaning of the laptop.
- Water damage repair.
- Diagnosis of laptop components.
- Keyboard repair.
Our service offers the following services:
- Purchase advice for a laptop.
- Repair advice (which component to choose, etc.).
- We assist you with any software-related questions.
- We help you recover your data (as long as the hard drive is in good condition).

My laptop is under warranty and I would like to have it repaired ?
As a member of the EPFL community, if you purchase your laptop through our catalog and it is still under warranty, we recommend contacting a repair service (Lenovo or HP), as this warranty generally includes on-site support. We can also handle this service for you and lend you a laptop during the repair period.
Otherwise, you will need to contact the repair service of the retailer where you purchased your laptop. Please check with your retailer to learn about their repair conditions.
I am unable to install X or Y type software ?
We do not install the software for you, but we are happy to assist you with debugging if an error occurs during the installation process.
My laptop got wet (any type of liquid), what should I do?
Avoid or disconnect any power source and come directly to our service desk for advice.
