Poséidon negotiates offers to allow you to purchase professional laptops at advantageous prices from partners. The laptops selected are professional models, repairable and durable, and come with extended warranties and breakage insurance (usually 4 years).

Poséidon computers and accessories can be ordered on the shopping sites below. Orders are delivered to your address, within Switzerland only. You will also find the respective payment and shipping information on each site.

Purchase Conditions

  • These are private purchases. The payment is therefore the responsibility of the buyer, and the laptop must be for the person placing the order.
  • Laboratories and institutions are not authorized to purchase or offer machines from these offers to their employees or students.
  • You may purchase up to 2 laptops per year per person, regardless of the brand.
  • You agree that your email and shopping cart details will be shared with the Poséidon EPFL team.
  • This data is stored on an EPFL server and is accessible only by partners and members of the Poséidon committee.
  • You must adhere to the sales conditions of the partner you choose.

Choose Your Laptop

The laptops from the PDF catalog are generally available for viewing and handling at the EPFL helpdesk in MA A0 393.

Some schools and departments provide purchasing recommendations, which you can find on these various pages.

  • OS: Doesn’t matter, the few programming courses often provide an installation tutorial for Windows.
  • CPU: Minimum 4 cores.
  • RAM: 8 GB is “sufficient,” 16 GB is more comfortable.
  • Storage: 256 GB seems like a strict minimum, which can fill up quickly.
  • Graphics Card: Not typically necessary, unless planning to use heavy 3D applications or large-scale machine learning (but generally, EPFL provides clusters for computation…).

FAQ

How can I know if my institution has access to the offers in the catalog ?

On the service providers’ websites, when creating an account, a list of domains is displayed. If your domain is listed, you have access to our catalog.

Can I purchase computers directly from you at the counter ?

We do not sell laptops directly. You must go through the websites of our partners: Darest Shop (HP and Lenovo), Eyra Technology  (HP and Lenovo), and ART Computer (Apple). You need to create an account using your institutional email (EPFL, university, etc.)

How can I see the prices on the partner websites ?

To view the prices and place an order, you need to log in to the website. To do so, you must create an account using your institutional email (EPFL, university, etc.).

For our provider Art Computer, you must apply the discount code (POSEIDONMAC or POSEIDONIPAD) to see the price with the discount.

Can we also purchase chargers or other accessories ?

It depends on the offers of each of our different partners, which are displayed directly on their website.

What are the delivery times ?

The delivery times are those of our partners, which are indicated on their website.

Can the keyboard be changed ?

For Art Computer, you can choose a keyboard option, which can be selected directly when purchasing a laptop as an “accessory” option.
For other suppliers, you can still change the keyboard, but you need to specify it in a comment or send an email directly to the provider.

What should I do if I have an issue with my purchase ?

Are your offers available throughout the year ?

Yes, our offers are available throughout the year, and we renegotiate the offers every year before the academic period in September.
