Mediaspace by Kaltura

If you want to host videos to promote your work or your online courses, EPFL offers the ‘Videos & Streaming’ service, via a Kaltura platform (which has definitively replaced Switchtube and SwitchCAST platforms since February 2023).
Similar to Youtube, but intended for Swiss universities, mediaspace by Kaltura provides EPFL units (labs..) with a space to manage videos and broadcasting channels. These videos can then be embedded on web pages and ôn Moodle, viewed directly on the platform or added to playlists.
The platform offers videos editing tools and some features to easily create video quizzes or to make a ”Zoom” recording with Kaltura Capture.
Mediaspace is GDPR compliant (General Data Protection Regulations).
Kaltura solution is hosted by Switch on its own servers in Switzerland (see ‘Terms & conditions‘ by Switch).
The service is not intended to host scientific material (research data, filmed experiments…).
Answers to the two most frequently asked questions
- Adding administration rights to a channel or video: > Directly by the channel managers and not via [email protected] (see this tuto).
