The Double Deck project includes the transformation of the Esplanade and the renovation of the Coupole. Located at the heart of the campus, this project will be a central element in the future of education at EPFL. It will also bring about some changes for campus users during the four years of construction, from 2025 to 2029.
This page provides practical information and will be regularly updated during the construction period.

Project-Related Developments
Car Park Closures
The Esplanade car park will be permanently closed to the public starting from April 30, 2025. The construction site perimeter (orange zone on the plans) will be inaccessible from July 7, 2025.
Mobility
Cycling services (bike racks, EPFL Cargobikes, pumps and charging stations) will remain available outside this perimeter. Information about mobility services and infrastructure on campus is available on the Commuting Mobility pages.

Rubbish Disposal Relocation
A temporary rubbish disposal area will be set up between April 22 and May 19, 2025 (Jean Tschumi Street). During this period, every effort will be made to maintain services. Please plan accordingly.

Restaurants
The Coupole-Esplanade restaurant will close on December 31, 2025, and will reopen after the Coupole renovations.
The food trucks will be relocated to the Place Cosandey during the construction work.
