After the exchange

Transcript of records

As soon as you finish your exchange, you must send the original documents given to you by the host university to validate your exchange year to the academic exchange advisor of your section. The academic exchange advisor will then validate the credits earned abroad. Once verified by the academic exchange advisor, the original documents will be returned to you.

The academic exchange advisor forwards a copy of the results together with a document mentioning the credits converted into ECTS to the Registrar’s Office.

For you to receive your Bachelor’s degree in autumn, your results and equivalence of credits must be sent by your section to the Registrar’s Office by 30 October at the latest. Please make sure that you send your exchange results to your academic exchange advisor well in advance (15 October at the latest), otherwise you will receive your Bachelor’s degree only the following year.

As some host universities do not give transcripts directly to students, you are responsible for ensuring that your results are communicated to the Registrar’s Office.

In the event that the academic service has not received your transcript along with the equivalence of your credits by the 10th Friday of the semester (same deadline as for late course registration or exam withdrawal), your registration from the MA1 will be withdrawn and you will be enrolled in the BA5 instead.

Final report

Upon returning from the exchange, students need to submit a report following the Student Exchange Office’s requirements. Information regarding the report will be sent by email during the exchange.

Retake exams

In the event that your host university offers retake exams in case of failure on the first attempt, the retake exam must take place no later than September 30th at the end of your exchange. Exams taken after this date cannot be recognized by EPFL.
