EPFL students
EPFL students who have successfully completed their Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering and have been selected during their 1st semester of the Master’s degree may participate in the double degree program.
TUM students
TUM students who have successfully completed their Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering and have been selected may participate in the double degree program.

EPFL students
- 1st year of Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering (60 ECTS) at EPFL
- 2nd year (60 ECTS) and Master’s thesis in Automotive engineering (30 ECTS) at TUM
TUM students
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters of Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering (min. 90 ECTS) at EPFL
- Two or three semesters (courses and Master’s thesis, min. 60 ECTS) at TUM
Master’s thesis
The Master’s thesis can be carried out in a laboratory or within a company. It must be written in English or in German. The oral defense takes place at TUM either in English or in German. A written summary must be submitted in the other language.

TUM: English (main language) and German
Once the participants have met the graduation requirements of each of the partner universities, they receive two degrees:
- Master of Science/Ingénieur mécanicien diplômé EPF from EPFL
- Master of Science/Dipl.-Ing. from TUM
EPFL students
EPFL students must pay administrative fees of 128,50€ per semester for the year they spend at TUM (two semesters) as well as for the last semester (in order for them to obtain the degree).
