The matriculation of new students takes place at EPFL on dedicated days shortly before the beginning of the semester. Every new student must come in person, and bring all the required official documents (see place, dates, schedule, and requirements on the web page corresponding to your situation).
Your student card will be given to you on that occasion, as well as a useful information about your studies at EPFL. If you were previously registered at EPFL and received a student card on that occasion, but you no longer have it, please get in touch with the Student Services Desk as soon as possible.
Shortly before matriculation days in September, every new student receives an email from us with a link to register for a specific time slot.
A Fr. 50.- fee will be charged for students who miss matriculation days (including those whose official documents are not available in time for matriculation). In any case, the final deadline to matriculate in person at EPFL is September 30. Once that deadline has passed, it becomes impossible to enrol for the academic year at EPFL.
So that the room where matriculation itself takes place does not get overcrowded, students must come unaccompanied. Accompanying persons are invited to visit the EPFL campus during matriculation. Luggage, strollers, pets, etc. are also prohibited in the matriculation room (please note that no cloakroom nor locker is provided).
