The principles of the evaluation of studies at EPFL are regulated by the Ordonnance sur le contrôle des études. The present pages are published for informative purposes only.
There are two types of subjects taught at EPFL:
- subjects examined “during the semester”: the final grade for these subjects is based solely on tests (quizzes, projects, reports, presentations, posters, etc.) that take place during the semester
- subjects examined in the exam session (in the “winter” or “summer”): the final grade for these subjects is based at least in part on a test (written or oral exam) that takes place during the exam session
For subjects examined in the exam session, it is imperative to be present at EPFL during the exam session. This holds for exchange students at EPFL, too.
Semester projects are subjects examined during the semester and as such are subject to the same rules as courses, exercises, practical work, etc.
