Sportech Forum – Durandal

Durandal is an AI-assisted analysis and signaling system for fencing.

It is designed for training and sport practice, whether for leisure, well-being, health or competition preparation.

It aims to make fencing accessible to a wider public through attractive technologies, while promoting the benefits of this discipline for physical and mental health.

Our group is developing a wireless fencing match monitoring system with an impartial referee.

Unlike the current system, which uses wires and a human referee, our product attaches to fencers’ belts, giving them total freedom of movement.

The system detects hits using signal processing and machine learning, and notifies them in three sensory ways. It enables fencers to train in any type of environment.

  • Educational tutors to integrate our project into an academic study framework.

  • Financial partners to set up a development infrastructure with a view to commercialization.

  • Potential partners motivated to participate in prototype development:

    • Development of the intelligent model.

    • Code optimization (increasing the speed and stability of wireless exchanges and intelligent task management).

    • Electronic circuit optimization (power consumption, miniaturization, architecture, etc.).

    • Case design improvement (materials, weight, aesthetics, grip, robustness…) environment.
