The goal of this project is to highlight the main issues related to the mobility in mountain resorts with a particular emphasis on Verbier’s moutain resort (VS, Switzerland).
Based on observations made in Verbier as well as on “best practices” identified in other mountain resorts, the study will outline a research program composed of short-term and longer-term concrete solutions for achieving sustainable mobility in Verbier. These solutions aim at improving both the access by transport to the resort and the mobility within the resort.
This project is conducted by the Laboratory of Urban Sociology, directed by Prof. Vincent Kaufmann. As a follow-up of this preliminary study, EPFL’s Transportation Center, through its various competences in mobility and urban planning, might be the ideal scientific partner for implementing sustainable mobility solutions that will be proposed in the course of the project.
