The goal of this project is to develop methods that can predict the trajectories of vehicles and participants in simple and crowded scenes.
Transportation is at the dawn of an Artificial Intelligence revolution where vehicles will have self-driving capabilities. Honda R&D Co. has initiated collaboration with the Visual intelligence for transportation Laboratory (VITA), led by Professor Alexandre Alahi, to work on the future of automated driving systems.
Understanding human activities surrounding a vehicle is the most crucial requirements for any fully automated or human-assistive driving system. The system should not only have a thorough understanding of the current situation, but also forecast the future states. The forecasting step is essential for planning the right actions, avoiding dangerous situations, and raising early enough warnings.
The goal of this project is to develop methods that can predict the trajectories of vehicles and participants in simple and crowded scenes. Upon success, the proposed methods will be integrated in Honda’s vehicles impacting millions of lives.
