Maria Colombo studied mathematics at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and at the University of Pisa, obtaining their respective degrees in 2011. She obtained a doctoral degree at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa in 2015 with a thesis on “Flows of non-smooth vector fields and degenerate elliptic equations”. She then went to Zürich where, until July 2018, she was Fellow at ETH Zürich and postdoc at the University of Zürich.
She joined EPFL in August 2018, being appointed as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Mathematics, and was promoted to Full Professor in August 2021. Currently, she leads the Chair of Mathematical Analysis, Calculus of Variations and PDEs.
