Aztekin lab – Laboratory of Structural Regeneration
Why do only a few species regenerate their limbs? How do these animals restore a lost limb? What is different in mammals? To answer such questions, we focus on characterizing cell types of limbs by following a comparative approach between regeneration-competent tadpoles and regeneration-incompetent mice. We combine traditional developmental biology approaches with innovative imaging and single-cell multi-omics methods. To uncover mechanisms that are not feasible to investigate in vivo, we develop ex vivo and in vitro systems which simplify the study of complex limb regeneration.
