Biography
Jorge is a Communication Networks Engineer, having received his BSc in 2007 and his MSc in 2009, both at the top of his class, from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon (IST-TUL).
He was an Undergraduate Research Fellow at INESC-ID, developing novel techniques for information retrieval, and worked for IST as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in wireless communications. He went on to do research on wireless sensor networks at IT-Lisbon.
Nowadays, Jorge spends the majority of his time in Switzerland, pursuing a joint PhD in Distributed and Cognitive Robotics at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and LARSyS/IST-TUL. His current research deals with the problem of cooperative underwater odour source localisation using multiple autonomous marine craft.
In addition to his academic activities, Jorge is also a volunteer with IEEE.
