Public Portal to Anticipation

Connect emerging science with society

The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation is a collaborative initiative between EPFL’s Laboratory for Experimental Museology (eM+) and the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA) to connect emerging science with society.

Using the GESDA Science Breakthrough Radar® as its scientific compass, the Portal empowers participants to speculate on possible futures by tapping into the vast collective intelligence unleashed by generative AI. Debuting as a centerpiece of the Swiss Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo Osaka-Kansai, this interactive and immersive installation invites global citizens to ‘re-engineer’ a canvas of potential futures from their own perspectives. Participants engage parameters, including human/non-human; art, diplomacy, emotions and more—to help craft their own visions of the future across time horizons of 5, 10 and 25 years. By embracing the diverse perspectives of a global audience, this experience empowers individuals and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds to anticipate their world to come, making tangible the science of tomorrow.

The World Expo 2025, Osaka, Japan

Project as part of the Swiss Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo Osaka-Kansai. Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation introduces publics to the core Radar themes. The interactive installation encourages them to co-create speculative futures based on their individual choices.

By inviting co-creation with a leading scientific knowledgebase, participants ‘re-engineer’ a canvas of speculative futures through their own perspective.

Ultimately, this experience empowers individuals and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds to anticipate their world to come. Through playful engagement with trajectories of the scientific, the Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation builds a bridge between science and society.

The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation employs the strategies of co-creation, personalization and generative AI to create future science-based imaginaries.
The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation engages over three million futures.
