To celebrate its 60th Anniversary, the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) is joined with its Member Societies, Technical Committees, Working Groups and Partner organisations to stage a series of events around the world.
Prof. David Atienza took part in a panel discuission about Trends on Computing Systems, which was organised and moderated by Graziano Pravadelli, Chair of IFIP WG 10.5 on Design and Engineering of Electronic Systems.
The panel focused on the development of computing systems to cope with increasing demands for low power and high performance in the IoT world. It discussed some innovative systems (like quantum and neural processors) that may cause a revolution in computing architectures and systems. The panelists discuss several innovative aspects of computing, such as new ultra-efficient, many-core 3D architectural designs for the next-generation of eco-friendly servers inspired by mammalian brains, and principled approaches to incorporate self- and situational-awareness to ensure safety and reliable deployment of computational (software and hardware) platforms.
The other panelists included Nikil Dutt (UC Irvine), Victor Grimblatt (Synpopsys) and Manfred Glesner (Technische Universität Darmstadt).
