School of Engineering award for Lara Orlandic

Lara Orlandic of the Embedded Systems Lab has been awarded the School of Engineering’s Teaching Assistant Award.

Lara was the head teaching assistant for the Machine Learning course. It is one of the largest Master’s courses at EPFL, with over 500 students. She managed a team of 26 Teaching Assistants to coordinate lab exercise teaching, in particular to update projects and lab materials to include new topics like Large Language Models. She also orchestrated the ML4Science program, in which students do their final project in a lab, to get hands-on experience with Machine Learning using real-world data.

The Best Teaching Award is an initiative of the School of Engineering of EPFL to reward extraordinary involvement of PhD students in the lectures given in the bachelor and master cycles of the 4 sections of the school. Each semester, 5 awards are attributed by the award committee based on nominations by the teachers.

Many congratulations to Lara!
