It is with great pleasure that we announce that David Atienza has been named Full Professor at EPFL.
Having studied computer science and engineering at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), David received an EU Marie Curie Scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. degree jointly with IMEC in Belgium and UCM, in integrated circuit design and embedded systems design.
He joined the Department of Computer Architecture and Engineering of UCM as an assistant professor, becoming associate professor in late 2006.
David then moved to Switzerland to create the Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL) at EPFL and became associate professor in early 2014, and now full professor. He is also Director of the Section of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Director (a.i.) of the EcoCloud Center.
David develops high-performance embedded systems and multiprocessor integrated circuits for the Internet of Things. He is an international expert in the field of 3D integrated circuits and has made significant contributions to multiprocessor systems-on-chip (MPSoC), with applications in Edge AI and cloud systems. David Atienza aims to assist with the next phase of the digital data revolution and address the ecological and economic consequences of the era of the Internet of Things in a responsible way.
Everybody at the Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL) congratulates David on this wonderful achievement, and hopes to continue with this long and fruitful scientific career while heading ESL’s activities!
