This hand-crafted crystal glass was designed by Mark Pauly on invitation by Jonathan Ledgard who curated Artel’s limited-edition Animation collection. Inspired by our research on elastic knots, the glass is decorated with two realizations of a trefoil knot. Around the perimeter of the glass, a gold inlay traces a seemingly random curve, yet one with the same topology as the knot engraved on the base of the glass. The theme of the series, Transformation, is here interpreted as geometric variation of a fixed topological entity.
