2016

  • July 5-8: FuelMat presents 10 papers at EFCF Conference
    Our Group coauthored 10 papers (2 oral, 8 posters) at the 13th European Fuel Cell Forum (link to website) taking place in Lucerne, Switzerland, the largest annual SOFC/SOEC  conference with xxx attendants.
  • June-28: world record 75% gross dc electrical efficiency on methane
    Tested and certified in our EPFL-Sion fuel cell test laboratory, HTceramix achieved 75% efficiency (gross, dc, LHV) on a 6-cell SOFC stack from SOLIDpower fueled on methane
  • March-24: host seminar
    FuelMat hosted an invited seminar at EPFL-Valais/Wallis by Prof W.K.S. Chiu from Univ. Connecticut on (title)
  • March 22-23: FuelMat organizes MODVAL Conference.
    Our team organized the 13th edition of this yearly 2-day Symposium series on Modeling & Validation on Fuel Cells & Batteries, at the SwissTec Convention Center. It was attended by 120 specialists, presenting 60 oral papers (5 Keynotes) and 35 posters. We coauthored 2 oral presentations and 5 posters.

  • March 22-23: Best Poster Award
    Giorgio Rinaldi obtained at the 13th edition of MODVAL Symposium series on Modeling & Validation on Fuel Cells & Batteries a Best Poster Award for his coauthored work

  • Nov-27: invited presentation
    J Van herle gave an invited talk on “ Corrosion Issues in SOFC” at EPFL at the annual Swiss Corrosion Seminar hosted by MER S Mischler (EPFL-IMX-TIC).
  • Sep-24: invited presentation
    J Van herle gave an invited talk on “ Biogas – SOFC” in Torino (IT) during the kick-off of a European Project on this subject combined with a workshop.
  • July 5-8 : FuelMat presents 9 papers at ECS Symposium
    Our Group coauthored 9 papers (3 oral, 6 posters) at the 14th International Symposium on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells organized by the Electrochemical Society, taking place in Glasgow, UK, the largest annual SOFC/SOEC Symposium with xxx attendants. (link to website)

  • Dec-04: invited seminar
    J Van herle presented an invited seminar ‘Info Energie’ on “SOFCs in Buildings ” in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, for the Cantonal Energy Service (lunch-debate)
  • Nov-27/28: visit to SOLIDpower
    FUELMAT Group visits SOLIDpower company in Mezzolombardo, Italy, for a 2-day workshop with presentations and visit of the SOFC manufacturing plant
  • Oct-02: invited seminar
    J Van herle presented an invited seminar to the Swiss Gas Union in Yverdon, Switzerland on “ SOFCs with natural gas and biogas: >50% electric efficiency from kW to MW”
  • Sep-25: Nominee for EPFL PhD thesis prize
    Quentin Jeangros was nominated to candidate for the René Wassermann Materials Award, upon unanimous recommendation from the jury of his oral PhD thesis exam, codirected between FuelMat and EPFL-CIME (P.I.), and defended with distinction.

2013

  • May-03: invited seminar
    J Van herle presented an invited seminar to the Swiss Gas Union working group on Power-to-Gas in St-Gall, Switzerland on “ Coelectrolysis of steam and CO2”
  • Jan-01: founding of Fuelmat
    After 12 years of continuous activity as a research group within the Industrial Energy Systems Laboratory (EPFL-LENI) directed by Prof D Favrat, retiring in 2013, the henceforth independent unit FuelMat was created on 1.1.2013 under the supervision of MER J Van herle.
