Abstract:
The project aims at exploring state-of-the-art applications in heat pumping technologies applied to industrial processes and to propose a methodology for finding the best solutions to integrate heat pumps into industrial processes. The development of this work follows a logical progression of analyzing the existing cases, incorporating current and future possibilities into a comprehensive methodology and incorporating it into a software tool. The overarching goal of this work is to provide additional insights into areas where industry may realize efficiency gains by improving process integration schemes. This work thus contributes to reaching the goals of reducing the energy needs of Swiss industry which com-bines with the goals of the Swiss Competence Centre for Energy Research – Efficiency in Industrial Processes (SCCER-EIP) to reach the industrial conservation goals set by Energy Strategy 2050 (ES2050).
