We are delighted to welcome Wenjie Zhu, who has joined the Laboratory of Landscape Development (LAND) as a Visiting PhD Student from November 2024 to October 2025.
Wenjie is a fourth-year PhD candidate in Geography at Nanjing University, specializing in land use change and ecosystem services. Her research focuses on the spatiotemporal evolution of ecosystem services, as well as the coupled simulation and optimization of socio-ecological processes. She has published several papers, including studies on ecosystem service support for territorial spatial optimization, cultural ecosystem service mapping, and land-use optimization in ecologically fragile areas.
At LAND, Wenjie will focus on advancing ecological compensation strategies by investigating inter-regional ecosystem service flows and developing innovative approaches to optimize regional sustainability. Her research aligns closely with the laboratory’s mission to promote sustainable land use and ecosystem management.
Wenjie’s interdisciplinary approach, combining ecological economics and spatial analysis, promises to enrich the lab’s ongoing work and foster international collaboration. We are excited to have Wenjie with us and look forward to the contributions she will make to the LAND team.
