This week took place the end-of-semester reviews at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne. For Prof. Emmanuel Rey's studio, it was an opportunity to discuss the ongoing explorations of over thirty students who worked on designing a new neighborhood on the hillsides of Neuchâtel. The guest experts on this occasion were Sibylle Kössler, an architect from Lausanne, and Cyril Lecoultre, an architect from Nyon.

Searching for the invisible

Published by Espazium – Les éditions de la culture du bâti, the latest issue in the “Bâtisseurs suisses” series is devoted to the renovation of two high-rise apartment buildings in Serrières, in the heights of the city of Neuchâtel. Carried out by Bauart, this renovation of buildings dating from the 1970s demonstrates an approach that is both architecturally discreet and environmentally ambitious. The publication includes an interview with Prof. Emmanuel Rey detailing an architectural approach that integrates Baukultur issues and ecological transition objectives.

Hybrid Urbanity

Recently published by Birkhaüser, HYBRID URBANITY details the many challenges inherent in the regeneration of urban territories. Through a wide range of texts, documents and photographs – including an essay by Bruno Marchand – it provides a monograph on the Oassis neighborhood, designed on a former industrial brownfield site in West Lausanne by Bauart, a firm in which Prof. Emmanuel Rey is a partner.
