The sustainability of construction elements is linked to the optimization of building components, in particular, building envelopes and technical installations. Research projects concern the development of innovative elements, such as constructive systems for facades (bioclimatic facades), high energy performance elements and low environmental impacts (modular systems, recyclable and recycled elements).
Furthermore, the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) studies how sustainable technologies, for example, mechanisms linked with renewable energy, can constitute true raw material for architectural strategies. This approach is based on research by integrated design, taking iteratively into account local specificities and optimizing environmental (energy, resources, eco-balance), socio-cultural (identity, comfort) and economic (production, operating and external costs) performances.
