Welcome
Welcome to the interdisciplinary Astrobots Group.
The main activity of our group involves the system design of optical fiber positioner robots which are key devices for future astrophysics instrumentation. Our group has a large spectrum of disciplines, spanning from astrophysics to mechatronics, from navigation techniques to command electronics as well as optics. Our research is based on strong interdisciplinary competences in astrophysics and robotics.
Watch the video below to get inspired by a TED Talk about one of the most detailed maps of galaxies, black holes, and stars ever made of the spectroscopic surveys whose fiber positioner robots are designed at EPFL.
