The research study examines the housing accomplishments and concepts provided by the German architect Heinrich Tessenow (1876-1950).
Being a figure rarely treated in the architectural history textbooks, several publications and studies have explored Tessenow’s architectural production and theoretical works, in order to clarify his personality and his influence on modern architects of the Weimar Republic. On the contrary, none has examined his housing theories and projects through analytical and critical instruments. It is the reason why my current research aims to produce new knowledge and to fill a gap in architectural history.
