The hydraulic laboratory is used for research, services and teaching activities in the area of hydraulic engineering, hydropower, sediment transport and river engineering. The laboratory is comprised of two levels, over a total surface of 1’775 square meters. The experimental setup consists of a system of channels and flumes supplied with water through a closed circuit with a 800 cubic meter basin located below the main laboratory floor. The supply is facilitated by nine pumps linked to interconnectable circuits. A separate tank of 100 cubic meters is available for testing scenarios involving pollution by sediments, dyes, or other additives. A volumetric tap tank is employed to calibrate electromagnetic flow meters which are installed on the circuits. The laboratory features permanent installations for fundamental research and teaching activities and temporary installations for services and technology transfer.
