The dynamics of the goods transportation systems in Switzerland and Great Britain, from the 19th century
We analyzed the dynamics of goods transportation in Switzerland and Great Britain, using a historical and statistical analysis going back to the 19th century. Statistical trends inferred from long data series allow predictions for the possible evolution of the goods transportation – by road or rail. We also examined the dynamics of air pollution. By carrying out the analysis in parallel for Switzerland and the United Kingdom, we could compare and find common points, but also differences that suggest what could have occurred differently.
