Two PhD Positions – Polymer Synthesis
The Polymers Laboratory at EPFL (lp.epfl.ch) has two open PhD positions for a project that focuses on the design and synthesis of block copolymers that will mimic the structure and properties of mussel-derived proteins.
The two positions are part of a larger, multidisciplinary project that involves other partners in Switzerland and in Canada and that seeks to integrate expertise from biology, materials science and polymer chemistry to produce strong and tough synthetic polymer materials using design and processing principles inspired by nature. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in polymer synthesis, and in particular with controlled polymerization techniques, and an interest to work on an interdisciplinary project at the interface of biology and materials science.
