MAKE – Designing life with AI

Where generative AI meets molecular biology

Here at EPFL, we’re more than just studying life—we’re actively designing it!

Our group of around 30 students, divided into different projects such as kinase engineering, metabolism engineering, and binder design, are utilizing new generative AI models in the field of Life Sciences to conduct cutting-edge research. We are working under the guidance of professors and PhD students here at EPFL.

What would you do in this project ?

If you join us on this project, you will enter the large and promising world of protein design!
You will first do some research to find an idea of useful protein structure, or begin a project after a suggestion from a professor, or industry! You will then learn how to use AI to generate your original protein structure, and you will finally check if your protein works according to your prediction, testing it in wet Lab.

If you join this project, you will benefit from the help and advices of old members and have the opportunity to use all required materials for your experiments. After some time hopefully you will become a mentor yourself and it would be your turn to help new students taking their first steps into the world of research!
