Sophisticated Web Application Using Ajax Technology
Laboratory : LSIR | Semester | Completed |
Description:
The web is changing rapidly. Recently with advent of the AJAX technology for design and development of web applications, the web became much more interactive. Ajax (introduced in 2005), shorthand for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is a Web development technique for creating interactive web applications. The intent is to make web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user makes a change. This is meant to increase the web page’s interactivity, speed, and usability.
The Ajax technique uses a combination of the successful web technologies such as HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, etc. At LSIR Lab, we are working actively on a project called Global Sensor Networks (GSN) which is a middleware facilitating the deployment process of wireless sensor networks.
The project is involves in learning and developing ajax and web based applications for defining and interacting with the sensor networks.
Goals
- Introduction to interactive web programming using AJAX.
Benefits
- Becoming familiar with AJAX technology.
- Practical experience in developing a real world web applications (using most of the lessons you learned in previous courses).
- Becoming familiar with Global Sensor Networks infrastructure.
- Working in an interactive research environment.
Prerequisites
- Beginner to intermediate level experience in using Linux.
- Good JavaScript and HTML skills.
- Good CSS skills.
- Good Java skills.
- Being interested in learning new libraries.
