Methane Storage is a topic we started to work on very recently. The question here is whether methane be used as an alternative for gasoline in vehicles. At present methane is used but in order to have an energy density compariable to gasoline, the methane either needs to be compressed (CNG) or liquified (LNG). Both CNG and LNG require special equipment that occupies most of the trunck of a car. The question is whether one can uses nano-porous materials to store methane with a sufficiently high density at moderate pressures.
