We believe that the path to sustainable scientific discoveries is paved on reproducible predictions and results. In the field of numerical simulations, which supports physical models by conducting virtual experiments sometimes impossible in the real world, it is crucial to have guarantees of reproducibility. In the era of digitization, an open dissemination of implementation details together with input/output is crucial.
Thus, the LSMS is at the forefront of open science, having produced a long list of open-source software. LSMS’ collaborators also carefully publish datasets accompanying research papers, ensuring transparency and reproducibility. Such efforts are made in collaboration with the ENAC-IT4R service, which is supported by full-time data stewards.
The experience gained over the years in software developments and data curation was gathered, thanks to the ETH-board ORD funding program, into a dataset curation tool and an online platform, providing a service to the entire Computational Solid Mechanics community.
