BIOGRAPHY
Iva Tkalcec Vâju was born in 1974 in Zagreb (Croatia). She obtained Dipl. Ing. of Physics degree at University of Zagreb in 2000. She obtained her Ph.D. at EPFL in 2004 under the supervision of Prof. Willy Benoit. The thesis work was made in collaboration with UMV Vallorbe and was focused on tool steel used for the production of files. She continued her activity in the mechanical spectroscopy laboratory where she was responsible for data acquisition system. She developed LabVIEW data acquisition software and assisted the construction of new installations. She studied hydrogen storage in magnesium-based alloys. From 2007 to 2015 she worked as a research sicientist for VV S.A. (groupe Richemont) and studied mechanical properties of gold alloys. She started lecturing at EPFL in 2011 (Introduction to Metrology) and is currently responsible for all Physics Laboratory courses for physics students.
