Ulrich Hoffmann was born in Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany in 1974. In 2001, he obtained a diploma in computer science/medicine from the University of Tuebingen (Germany). He then worked for one year as a consultant and programmer in the areas Java and SAP for Innovate GmbH (Germany). He started his doctoral studies in 2003. In 2007 he obtained a PhD from the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Switzerland) for his research on brain-computer interfaces, signal processing, and machine learning. Since 2008, he is working as a senior research scientist and project leader in the health unit of Fatronik – Tecnalia (Spain). Dr. Hoffmann is author or co-author of several scientific publications.
