The Naef lab for at the Faculty of Life Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to join the lab’s longstanding research program on temporal gene regulatory mechanisms, and notably the regulation of translation dynamics in relation to the feeding-fasting and circadian cycles.
This position is funded in the context of a collaborative SNSF Sinergia grant Integrated multi-scale analysis of translation: single-molecules, omics and computation with Jeff Chao (FMI Basel) and Pierre Vandergheynst (EPFL). We are looking for a highly motivated new team member to further develop Molecular and computational tools for bulk and single-molecule translation experiments, or to perform a Quantitative dissection of the translation cycle in response to nutrient stress.
We are specifically looking for interdisciplinary profiles holding a PhD in molecular or computational biology (or a closely related field) with a strong background in areas such as
- single molecule imaging (SunTag)
- omics technologies (Ribo-seq, RNA-seq, mass spectrometry)
- computational multi-omics analysis
The team member will generate and/or analyze high-throughput sequencing data including (but not limited to) Ribo-seq, RNA-seq, or perform single molecule imaging of mRNAs using SunTag reporters. The successful candidate will work independently to develop and drive forward his/her research project, and also collaborate on ongoing projects in the group. Quantitative and interdisciplinary training, as well as previous experience with statistics, math/physics/computation, or next-generation sequencing genomic data analysis will be highly considered.
