We are very happy to announce the starting of a new PhD: we welcome Cross (from Florida-US) in our lab for the next 4 years! What an excited moment!
In his research, he focuses on understanding the role of hotter droughts in plant physiology and anatomical differences. Just before starting at EPFL, he earned his master’s degree in agronomy at the University of Florida, where he studied how greenhouse experiments under hotter drought conditions affect the physiology and anatomical traits of coffee plants, as well as their acclimation. Now, alongside the PERL team, he is applying these skills in the field to investigate differences in holm oak (Quercus ilex) along a latitudinal gradient with contrasting soil moisture conditions, examining anatomical measurements and physiological traits related to thermotolerance and drought tolerance.
Good luck dear Cross for this amazing research project! And happy to have you in our team
