- The project
- From mycelium (the structuring part of the fungus) introduced into residual plant chips (what is usually considered waste is our raw material), we obtain a light, low density, resistant and shock absorbing solid. Its high insulating capacity having already been demonstrated, however, its possibilities of use remain infinite. Construction, design, packaging, we are looking to develop a stable material that can replace plastic, for example, thus minimizing the ecological impact of these various sectors.
- The goal
- Through future collaborations, we wish to develop and improve various properties of this recipe. All the objects produced can then be returned to nature, thus starting a new life. We hope that our reflection and research will generate interest and motivation to develop biodegradable and eco-responsible materials among future SKIL actors.
