Getting to the EPFL Mathematics Department from Geneva by car
Take the A1 motorway with direction Lausanne. Take the “Université / EPFL” exit. Continue onto “Route Cantonale” (about 1 km). At the fourth roundabout you encounter, take the first exit right onto Allée de Savoie.

Visitor Parking
You may park (paid parking) at the “Esplanade” underground parking. To get there, simply continue straight onto ahead Allée de Savoie.
Getting to Lausanne from Geneva Airport
Once you have cleared customs, turn left and follow the signs to the Airport’s railway station. Tickets to Lausanne can be bought at the guichet on the right hand side as you enter the station through a revolving door. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased online here.
Getting to Hotel Alpha Palmiers from Lausanne’s Train Station
Once you arrive at the station, follow the exit signs toward the city. Exit to “Avenue de La Gare”. You will see a McDonald’s restaurant exactly opposite the main building of the station. Cross the road toward the McDonald’s and then climb the uphill road (“Rue du Petit Chêne”) that is left of the McDonald’s for about 50 meters. You will see Hotel Alpha on your left hand side (Rue du Petit Chêne 34, 1003 Lausanne).

Getting to Hotel Elite from Lausanne’s Train Station
Once you arrive at the station, follow the exit signs toward the city. Exit to “Avenue de La Gare”. You will see a McDonald’s restaurant exactly opposite the main building of the station. Cross the road toward the McDonald’s and then climb the uphill road (“Rue du Petit Chêne”) that is left of the McDonald’s for about 50 meters. Then turn right onto Avenue Sainte-Luce (it is a small street, not really an avenue!). You will find Hotel Elite on your left-hand side (Avenue Sainte-Luce 1, 1003 Lausanne).

Getting to EPFL from Hotel Alpha Palmiers / Hotel Elite (Rue du Petit Chêne)
If you don’t mind an uphill stroll:
Head up Rue du Petit Chêne until you reach Place St. Francois. Cross Rue du Grand Chêne and then go slightly left onto Rue du Grand Pont. After about 15 meters you will find stairs on your left leading down to the metro station. Take line M1 (direction “Renens”). You can buy your metro ticket from the automatic vending machines situated in the metro station (select a zone 11+12 full price ticket). Get off at the “EPFL” stop.

If you’d rather not walk uphill:
Walk down Rue du Petit Chêne to the “Gare” metro stop (the entrance to the Gare metro station is right next to the McDonald’s across the street the train station). You can buy your metro ticket from the automatic vending machines situated in the metro station (select a zone 11+12 full price ticket). Take line M2 with direction “Croisettes”. Get off at the “Lausanne Flon” stop (the first stop). At Flon, take line M1 with direction “Renens”. Get off at the “EPFL” stop.
Getting to EPFL from Lausanne’s Train Station (Lausanne Gare CFF)
From the main train station in Lausanne, follow the signs to the Metro station (the entrance to the metro station is right next to the McDonald’s across the street the train station). You can buy your metro ticket from the automatic vending machines situated in the metro station (select a zone 11+12 full price ticket). Take line M2 with direction “Croisettes”. Get off at the “Lausanne Flon” stop (the first stop). At Flon, take line M1 with direction “Renens”. Get off at the “EPFL” stop.
Getting to the Mathematics Department from the EPFL Metro Station
Either take the underpass at the west end of the platform, or the overpass at the east end of the platform to cross to the south side of the Route de la Sorge (the road parallel to the train tracks). Head east onto Route de La Sourge (against the direction your train was traveling in). After about 150 meters, turn right onto Avenue Piccard. After about 100 meters, take the stairs onto the second level (i.e. go up two levels). There you will see the entrance to the mathematics department (an orange door with labelled “MA”).
