In the area of wireless communications the group has a strong focus on MIMO, using our implementations of MIMO-WLAN as research vehicles that are representative for a wide range of other emerging communication standards. Our work in this area is concerned with both system aspects and with individual algorithms and components that are critical for the overall performance, silicon area, and/or power consumption.
Specific current areas of interest are
- Application of advanced MIMO detection to MIMO-WLAN
- Analysis of the impact of Transmit-RF impairments on MIMO communication and the development of algorithms and corresponding hardware implementations to mitigate the associate performance degradation
- Energy efficiency of MIMO wireless communication systems
